Watercolor Feathers
Sep 08, 2023This is a quick overview of how to use layering techniques to paint watercolor feathers. I first start with a very light wash and paint a silhouette of a feather. I leave a small narrow gap in the middle of the feather. Then I drop in color into the damp layer of paint and let it softly fade. Once the first layer dries, I add tiny feathery lines using a small round brush for detail. I use darker values with each layer of paint. I always use cold pressed watercolor paper.
